He died the 28th Jan at Columbus Post Hospital. We left the 22nd to join our Regiment where we are not stationed. He left a note in my charge to collect from one of the company of which I shall sent to you on receiving it (the amount of four dollars). There was hopes awhile of his discharge but it seems they could not get it in time since it was first called for. He had good attendance in the hospital as the Doctor was the best that had ever been there, but that disease seems incurable when fully seated. I lament his death and also the company heard the news with sorrow for he was respected by all as a true and faithful soldier with endearing patience. I will close for this time.
