This large antique portrait of a Civil War soldier is a charcoal drawing or an under-exposed photograph finished in charcoal. It is signed on back, very lightly in pencil -- Shwartz -- and 36. It was done in the 19th century. Hard to tell if it's a Union soldier or a Confederate soldier. This vintage Civil War portrait would look great hanging in a library, den, office, or man cave.
A nice gift for the military collector or for Father's Day. The frame is plastic and Plexiglas. The portrait is in good antique condition.
There are no rips, tears or water stains. There is a lot of foxing.
There is fading between the portrait and the area under the mat. Please use your zoom for a good look. 15 7/8" X 19 7/8".
19" X 23" in the frame. We do our best to accurately describe each item and try to include every detail we know about the piece in the description.
