Pomeroy of the 33rd Ohio infantry Co. He was killed at the battle of Atlanta in 1864. The sword is in overall pretty good condition with a nice aged patina to the brass, and minor pitting to the blade as seen. The leather scabbard shows wear, with separation in a few places, and stitch loss.
The leather could be repaired or replaced if someone wanted to go that route. The sword measures 38 in length, and the handle is very tight. The item "ORIGINAL CIVIL WAR NCO SWORD 1862 AMES MANUFACTURE 33RD OHIO SOLDIER O. I" is in sale since Monday, September 7, 2020.
